IFC’s Middle East and North Africa Department is looking to hire the following positions to work in our regional office in Karachi/Islamabad, Pakistan. The selected staff’s responsibilities will include origination and support of new transactions, as well as supervision of an assigned portfolio of projects in the Infrastructure (UN) cluster, most importantly in the Infrastructure sector in the MENA region.

Duties and Accountabilities
The primary responsibility of the investment Officer will be to identify and source viable investment projects which maximize development impact as well as project sustainability and profitability across the region, working in concert with colleagues in the region and across the Cluster. This work will include, but will not be limited to:
- Develop and execute a strategy for business development through mapping, industry analysis and client engagement with the objective of building a robust pipeline and including a healthy familiarity with regional portfolio holdings and repeat investment prospects. This includes developing and maintaining relationships throughout the business community to generate leads and deals.
- Screen proposals for initial review and preparing or overseeing the preparation of preliminary review with a key focus on overall credit assessment and deal structuring.
- Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close new transactions, portfolio restructurings, rescheduling, capital increases, equity sales, etc.
- Develop innovative and appropriate financial structures for complex transactions.
- Act as Client Relationship Manager for key sector clients especially those who are regional or global clients.
Selection criteria
- A Master’s Degree in Finance or Business or equivalent professional qualification and a minimum of 8 to 10 years of professional, relevant experience.
- Significant investment transaction experience, with proven success in developing client relationships as well as structuring and processing quality investments. Good “deal sense” based on demonstrated strong analytical skills and sound business judgment.
- Knowledge of and experience in emerging markets; overall sector(s) knowledge is a plus.
- Strong financial and credit skills; demonstrated ability to structure a variety of complex financial instruments (debt and equity).
